Guitar Lesson 101

Since I have a few guitars and no skills, I really like when I find a well made guitar lesson on Youtube. By well made I mean, visually it shows everything and for those of us lacking any type of real teaching its easy to understand and fun.

Travis Picking

Two fun lessons in finger picking with the guitar. These two lessons by David Hodge make learning to finger pick fun and remarkably easy to do. I was quite amazed at how simple this technique was and how with a little practice I could start playing in a way I really didn't think I was capable of doing to be honest.

Few new links..

Found a few new Guitar sites that are worth the time to look through and use. Guitar Noise and Chordbook. Guitar Noise frankly has some of the best free lessons and articles I have seen so far. Chordbook is just a really handy site for looking up chords, scales and such.

I am really pondering heading to the Community College this summer to try a music class. In all honestly it is a whole lot cheaper than private music lessons and it will get me out of the house several days a week and around some new people.

Two days until the next 5k. I really don't know how I am going to fare on this one. My training regimen has really dropped off this last month.

I have dropped to just running 10 mi. a week.

I do have to say though that I have really gotten rid of a lot of the leg problems I had been experiencing though.

The 7:30 am start time has gotten me quite a bit of grumblings from Dee and Jinelle.

I have three words for the two of them "Suck it up".

Lessons

Well I signed up for a website by an Aussie who has 100's of really well made guitar lessons. The site has over 60K members registered in their forums who submit lessons and info as well about guitar playing.
Guitar for Beginners and Beyond

I have to say that after looking through quite a few websites this one really is worth the few moments it takes to sign up with a name, password and e-mail address. The lessons that I have used so far are really well made, easy to understand and just plain made interesting.

My Guitar Gently Weeps

Yup, I have decided to start playing the guitar again. For the last week or so I have started from scratch and have begun my journey anew down the path of musical enlightenment. I really have been annoying Dee with lots of music theory questions that she just does not remember the answers to. (Or so she says...)

I have pulled out the two guitars we possess that have been stored away in a closet since Josh left for the Marines several years ago. (By the way, Josh called and let us know he has bought a banjo. I guess he has gotten the music bug as well.) He called and told me to learn "Dueling Banjo's" so we could sit on the porch and scare the neighbors.

Well my fingers are sore and the cats are no where to be seen. They are either afraid of the guitar or the way I play it.

Guess I am probably going to add a music links section soon. Still going through web sites looking at the different ones with free lessons, tab and other such stuff.
